After seeing the payment for export dropping, from 15p to 12p per kWh now it seems import also reducing. 1774740682220.pngThat 2p drop is really going to drop my bill, as largest load is overnight.

So now gas is more expensive compared with off-peak electric.
Hurrah for wind power.

I hope to see some days when the gas generators are not required. Until then, the market price is driven by the highest successful bid.

Let’s all guess what captain hindsight will claim to have invested in. You just know what he’s building up to….

Absolutely none of the credit can go to the Labour government. The astonishing progress that the UK has made in the last 15 years is nothing but a huge success.

CGT will have to remain part of our generation for many years to come

Getting paid to charge the car this afternoon, going to net me 0.14p 1330-1400! Overall will be 11p for 30kWh or about 110 miles. Does seem a bit perverse, who is really paying here?

Yes, agreed, how long can it go on for? Been with Octopus 10 months now, the letter tells me

My calculation is less than £200 to date. I was before solar paying around £1,500 a year, at first I was with British Gas, who never did sort out payment for export, so paying them around £800 a year, so moving to Octopus has halved my electric bill. Would you believe it, they keep asking me to come back to them?

So it seems to me, the rental sector is paying for my electric? They to date can't fit solar, although that seems set to change, and can't modify the property to use batteries, unless they get an EV. If they can get the landlord to permit them to fit an EV charger, they can use the EV as a battery bank.

So it is really a case of how the other half live. People trapped into the rental sector, likely due to being short of money in the first place, are paying for me to live, I am of course happy they are supporting me, but that can't really be fair.

I know little about Octopus, but is not your (modestly) reduced price from April 1st at least partially related to the fact that countless millions of people are going to see a reduction in fuel prices as of that date, as a consequence of the reduction the the Ofgem 'cap'?

As you illustrate, today has been an unusually windy day. Even those some 50% of electricity today may have come from wind, the average during Winter is about 10% or so and the average during Summer not a lot over 5%. In the absence of high wind, CCGT would have to make up most of what would otherwise be 'shortfall'.

Today was quite a good day, but not exceptional.
