In my shed I need a temporary light for about a week.

I have one single plug socket in there already, can I run a wire from the back of this to a light switch and then onto the light fitting? I so how do I do the connections?

I know this is not ideal and probably illegal, but I only need it for a week to connect a fridge to before it goes back in the kitchen.

Cheers.

Put a flex and plugtop on yout fitting (with 3A fuse) and plug it in when required... simples :)

as said.. put a plug on the light, and put a short extension lead into the socket..
DO NOT USE a "cube" socket adapter..

just leave the fridge door open, there's a light in there.. :)

can you not locate the fridge elsewhere in the house for the meantime?
in the lounge or a bedroom or somewhere?

In my recently rented property in the outhouse I have one of these connected from the double plug:

Connected to this a wire runs to the light. The fuse in the switch is 5amp.

I am not a spark and I have no idea if this is acceptable, but it is what I have.

It is acceptable to use a suitably fused switched fused spur unit for a light yes, however without knowing what type of circuit it is connected to (radial, ring final, cable sizes, fuse size) it is impossible to say.
