Guys, I just want you to confirm my thoughts on this one, please don’t shoot me down because I think you will be agreeing with me.

My sister’s husband and a friend installed some 12v halogen lights into the bathroom last week by connecting a 4 way extension plug socket to the original wires that came through the ceiling to the light fitting. They have then placed normal plugs onto the transformers and plugged them in the 4 way socket.

Am I right in saying that this is very dangerous and illegal?

I have told them that they need to take them straight out and to get an electrician in to do the work.

Many thanks
Rob

"Very" is a judgement call, but it's probably dangerous enough to be illegal, and I'll bet they didn't notify it either, so that's another illegality.

I have told them that they need to take them straight out and to get an electrician in to do the work.
Given their staggering lack of competence I agree.

thanks for your reply. i think brother in laws friend suggested to do it this way.

when i questioned him he said you cant put that many wires into a junction box.
