Hello all,bit of a problem with my Focus. The gear stick feels like it is in a tub of glue (or porridge)now and again. Can never predict when it is going to happen, and depressing the clutch and trying to get into gear doesn't help it either.

This is the same for all forward gears (and reverse).

Car has done 102,000+ miles and has a 1.6 Zetec engine.Does anyone have any ideas?

Would I be going down the wrong avenue if I thought the gear lever spring was invovled?

Thanks in advance.

Just to update:

Having remembered that the car went in for a speed sensor around a year ago,I recall that part of it fell into the gearbox. The garage did ring to let me know and what course of action I wanted to take eg. strip gearbox.

Being made of plastic I thought the best bet was to let the gears mash it around.

Seems like it isn't quite mashed yet
