Ford Mondeo mk3 (2001) locking system problems

Hi, I wonder if someone can help? I just bought a 2.5l V6 Ford Mondeo estate (2001). The locking system seemed OK at first but now the boot release button on the dash console doesn't unlock the car, also the touch release on the boot doesn't operate. The only way to unlock the boot is by using the release button on the key fob or using the key in the tailgate lock. Any ideas what the problem could be?

I think you model carries a multi function control box, under the steering column or near somewhere there, if its that you will have to change whole thing
