Forming an opening in existing wall

Hi Guys,

Planning to open up my kitchen into one of my reception rooms. I want to extend the top half of the door (1.30 down) aprox 1.50m wide. I want to attempt this myself, does anyone out there have any advice or can point me in the direction of a website that may help?
