This together with a lot of other info came to my wife from British gas, as to why it is cheaper washing on a Sunday I don't know, midnight to 5 am, and when we have solar OK, but seen nothing about electric costing less on a Sunday.

Is peak save a tariff? It does not say it is, also talks about peak save green flex, one would hope if it's a tariff they would say so in plain English. They say they will service my boiler for £49 that's cheap for an oil boiler, bet it's not really that price?

Now the clocks have gone forward, and we’re officially on British Summer Time,

so why does the app show UTC? It seems if we clean the outside of the fridge the better it runs, the less electricity it will use. Really? As to hanging out washing that's one sure way to waste detergent and electric having to wash it all again to get rid of bird lime.

Then it talks about not having items on stand-by, and next sentence how hive which clearly is always running on stand-by can lower your bills.

Remember, this is a personal email to my wife, not a public advert, think I should print picture of fridge, add clean me, and stick it on the fridge freezer, but remember to duck.

I'm on the Octopus Tracker tariff, Sunday is the day when much of industry closes down, it is usually the day when the cost per KwH is least for me, and especially so, when it is windy.

Really? As to hanging out washing

We always attempt to wash on a cheaper power day, especially so if things can be hung out to dry. Some things, we don't even bother to wash, like the dogs bedding and towels - we just hang them out and let the rain and sun, wash and dry them. They come in smelling really fresh.

my summer base load is about 2.88kw a day so assuming 1kw say 9am to 5 pm and 1kw 5pm to 2am when i go to bed [fall asleep in the chair lol] no tarrif or a smart meter will ever save me anything
as an aside i moved to b/g because they have low standing charge tariff better suited to my use so ther free half price sunday afternoon units are off little or no value [perhaps 10-15p a week if i crammed all my washing 'battery charging 'cleaning 'bathing into my relaxed sunday afternoon routine

@Why Not Indeed since I have no gas, that is clearly not valid, remember email not a general to everyone statement. @big-all yes we soon realised watching the display does not really help, I may at moment have a full battery, and it is the ideal time to start washing, but to save a few p is it really worth it? @ebee never considered that, is that why raves always seem to happen at night?

Well yesterday went to the local beer festival, and did not get through the whole selection on offer, so maybe return tonight? Of course using the local steam train, there are no buses that time of night, and I have to admit the ambiance last night together with the music was A1.

Nothing like a train full of drunks travelling 8 mile through the Welsh countryside, driven by a Canadian who now lives in the Isle of Man, with clouds of smoke and occasional red-hot cinder, good job not been too dry of late. The only downside was having to do last ½ mile on my e-bike with no rear lamp. That reminds me, still have not put it away.

As to smart meters and their in home displays, they don't seem to show anything which I don't already know. Yes, it means I can have an EV tariff, so I can recharge my battery cheaper overnight at 8.95p per kWh, but as in the grand scheme of things how much that saves me, is somewhat debatable.

It just seems silly for BG to send out that email. It does not seem to relate to our situation one little bit.

I have to admit, when we first got solar we did try to use power when it cost the least, as to @Harry Bloomfield to be watching the rate hour by hour to work out when to do washing, no thank-you. Likely @bernardgreen is the closest and it does mean Sunny day.

As to @denso13 this may be the option with some tariffs, but there is no such decoration with the EV tariff, and since an email it is aimed at us, and they clearly know what tariff we are on.
