Just got back from France and bought a small appliance which I need to change the France plug to the UK plug, the cable wiring is green/yellow, blue & brown, I'm assuming the wiring is the same as the UK?

If an appliance has those colors in it's mains lead then it's a pretty safe bet that it's brown-live blue-neutral green+yellow-earth.

If he knows the wire colors then he has probbablly already removed the existing plug.

also the converter plugs for earthed european plugs are horriblly bulky.

Thanks lads, just wanted to double check if I missed anything, didn't know about the euro convertaplug though!

Looking at those converta plugs - seems like they only useful if you have a 2 pin plug (ie no earth)??

Unless I've missed something, you'd be better putting a UK plug on it but make sure you have the correct size FUSE in the plug - they dont bother in frogland.

The appliance should have a current rating plate on it.

Edit: Just spotted the SCP3 is suitable for earthed euro plugs....Its got a BS1362 fuse holder too.

You can get ones for earthed plugs but as I said they are horriblly bulky and i've never seen anyone use them in practice.
