My black Franke Granite sink bowl is now 2 years old and has patches of 'light grey', probably from the soaps/detergents etc. How can I renovate the sink to its original black without effecting the smooth finish? - DM

Probably limescale, try white vinegar mixed with lemon juice, apply and leave overnight, may take several applications if it has been allowed to build up.
Once clean apply on regular basis to prevent build up.

Thanks Foxhole but I don't think its limescale as I live in a soft water area and have no other issues with limescale on any of my kitchen appliances. The patches are of a uniform shape as if a small amount of 'liquid' has been left to lie in the sink and cause the grey staining.
Limescale occurs even in soft areas where water is left to sit.If the vinegar solution removes it then it's limescale.
probably the washing up liquid - it apparently has a small salt
content - and that`s why it shouldn`t be used for washing ( cellulose painted classic) cars
