Our Tricity Bendix Eco Plus fridge freezer has just developed a problem and I'm not too experienced with f/f repairs. It has a single compressor and a single thermostsat. In the last couple of days we've noticed the fridge freezer has not been as cool as it should be. The freezer has been just about frozen but as of today the the compressor has stubbornly refused to run. I've tried adjusting the stat etc but to no avail.
How can I tell whether it's just a stat failure or whether the compressor has packed up? Is it possible to bypass the stat just for test purposes? The unit is about 5 years old and has to be manually defrosted and there has not been any gradual deterioration in it's performance.
