Hi all,

I've changed a couple of thermostats before and never had problems but this time....

My mum's fridge stopped chilling at all and was at pretty much room temperature so I ordered a universal fridge thermostat from espares. Decent service usually. When it arrived I fitted the part, thought i had sorted it and went back to check later. The temperature ranged from -10 to -20 on the different settings.

I rang espares and they sent another part. Fitted it... same problem!

So I did a bit of reading and discovered that the phial needs to be in contact with the evaporator plate. I thought this must be my issue but I checked this and it seemed to be OK. It has a plastic circle that srews against the back plate. The phial bends round the plate and then gets screwed on. This all seemed fine. I had a fiddle with it and tried again but same problem.

What else could be the problem be or is it definately still something to do with the thermostat or phial?

Thanks in advance

Just a thought could it be there are several connections on the stat and you need to use different ones?

Sorted, the universal connections were slightly different, wider connector at the top of thermostat so with a bit of opening and clamping on we're in business. Thanks for the idea, I just thought it would be ok but you prompted me to try again! Cheers :D
