Fried dimmer?

Ineptly installed 240v halogen track lighting, replacing conventional
single light on a two way circuit including a dimmer.
Initially screwed up the wiring and tripped the fuse, sorted my mistake
and now everything works as before.......exept the dimmer now no
longer dims.
It's a push on/off version and still functions as a switch, but what I
want to know is if it's possible I've fried the dimmer as I can't see
anything wrong with the wiring configuration?

Ideas anyone?

sounds like you have "fried the dimmer" since you have blown the fuse all the current would have gone through the dimmer "frying" its components"

Cheers Breezer, the dimmer was indeed fried, guess I'll put that one
down to experience and be a bit more careful in future
