I have a Friedland doorbell which I took it down to redecorate , stupidly without noting which wire came from where. Can anyone advise?

I have four wires coming from the wall (two from the button and two from the transformer), two are twisted together. On the doorbell I have connections labelled 0, 1 and 2. Many thanks!

Did you turn OFF the mains power to the transformer before moving the bell.? If not it is possible that the wires from the transformer shorted out and blew a fuse. Some transformers have a fuse in the ELV ( extra low voltage ) output.

CHeck the thin wires from the coil are still under the terminals. When the screw is loosened for the cabel to be fitted the thin wire can fall out

There is an interrupter contact in the bell ( in the green circle ) that opens when the solenoid operates, this breaks the circuit and the solenoid returns to the un-energised state, theinterrupter closes and the solenoid operates again and again amd again as long as the bell push is pressed.. The interrupter contacts may be burnt or dirty. Try changing the wire to the other side of the interrupter as shown in orange. The solenoid should then pull in and stay in as long as the button os pressed.
