Front Door Frame gap between wall

Hello

I recently painted the front door and today I removed the old sealant with the intention of replacing, but the gap seems quite large about 1cm in parts.

I tried using sealant but it just turned out rubbish. Any ideas what to do with such a large gap?

A maximum of 1cm can be filled with sealant, so long as you cut the nozzle end wide enough, and smooth the stuff over with a finger.
Failing that, its pointing the gap up with sand and cement.
