So I've been given a quote of near £300 for labour & parts to get my front door back working again.

Does this seem right for what's happened?

UPVC door is no longer catching at all so won't even close. 3 metall catches are worn apparently & so need replacing.

Price seems steep, is it about right?

Any help much appreciated.

how did you select the person who quoted £300?

most towns will have at least one small business who specialises in repairing and adjusting plastic doors and windows, because they are so unreliable.

A friend or neighbour may have a recommendation.

Hi Chris, could you post some pics of the worn bits, as the quote does seem high but until we know whats involved, it's kinda hard to say...pinenot :)

I don't think cjwardy is going to come back and tell us what happened  or show us any pics to gauge what the trouble is

i think youre right, maybe it was everest or alike who quoted 300 for a new door catch, and maybe the poor sod has booked it on!
