Hi!

we are thinking of buying a bungalow with Solid fuel CH. the chances are we may want to go on holiday for 2 weeks + in the winter. How would you protect the pipes etc from frost/freezing?

thanks

I explored the same option many years ago, such as adding an antifreeze to the primary water side. I couldn't find anything recommended, so I drained the water each time, which is a bit of a nuisance.
We only have two radiators, so no big worry re-filling it.
I always drained the secondary hot water side anyway.

If it’s a boiler and rads ( indirect)?you want to protect there are anti freeze chemicals you can add specifically designed for the purpose manufactured by

Fernox
Sentinel
