I've not been staying at house and the heating was on frost protection.
my system is a conventional one.
my water header in loft has 1 inch thick ice inside it .
my hot water (pipes run under house) and water from header tank has frozen (runs down next.to outside wall behind tile, I've put Heater on these to defrost)
I don't know if my copper cylinder has frozen . but boiler in outside cupboard frozen ( well pipes going to expansion cylinder)
now that we are seeing hoter weather, it's started to defrost , the expansion vessel has no water , reading zero, the boiler fan came on (these is signs of water on wall but could be from outside tap pipe)
when I tried filling expansion vessel it didn't rise but water was spewing out the pressure valve.
boiler is a glowworm fuelsaver 35, and it's a y plan system.
what can I do to fix this, I can change air pressure valve and expansion If required , but need to check if boiler is burst.
what's best way
