Hi

I got up this morning to find i have no hot or cold water downstairs but have both upstairs.

I don't have a combi boiler

I'm worried....do i keep the heating system on.....do i apply heat in the kitchen....please help

Thanks Marjory

Leave the heating on all day to warm up the structure of the house. If you need to go out to work, turn off the main stopcock in case something does burst (unlikely).

Does the house have an attached unheated garage? Check there aren't any vital pipes running through the garage or garage attic.

Hi

Yes i have an attached unheated garage but i've never noticed any pipes leading from it.

Thanks Marjory

Not necessarily leading to or from the garage but there may be pipes routed inside the roof space. This was what cut off water to some parts of our downstairs last winter; I was able to climb into the roof space and warm them gently with a blowtorch then wrap them with insulation. How athletic are you?
