I have the above boiler which has just packed in. The pilot is lit and when I turn the clock on the pump runs but the boiler does not fire up.

I have no intention of repairing myself if a part needs changing that Im not competent to fit but am after some advice as too what the fault could be as not too be ripped off (last year i paid over £230 and trhe fault in the end was a £12.00 overheat thermostat) I know there are a lost of excellent engineers on here and am hopoing for a bit of advice.

I have a multimeter and have checked the power at the solenoid and am getting 40volts. Could the solenoid be the problem?

Thanks in advance from a very cold household!

gas valve has gone valve around 60 quid and takes around half hour or the solenoid operator can just be changed these are around 50 quid and take 15 mins.

make sure someone has not turned of an isolating switch by the boiler, it would not be the first time

Should be 24v and yes there is a transformer so if you are getting 40v. (did you add this info after or did i miss it  ) your solenoid will have burnt out so both transformer and solenoid will need changing
