    Hi all

We've been recommended a Furnox magnetic filter from a BG engineer and F1 inhibitor injection. The cost is £255. Is this a fair price?

    Many thanks

Hmm. I have a peice of string. How long is it?...............................

Seriously, it is not a ridiculously high price for a reasonably straightforward job, and could be very cheap if awkward.

  4. There is maybe a very good reason, there would have been an onsite conservation why the Up sell is appropriate for your system. Who knows but Up selling never happened before Sid needed to be told.

He's alluding to the fact that in the dim & distant past, British Gas was a nationalised company, and as such, had no need to keep trying to sell stuff. When it was privatised, the add flogging the company had the tag line "Tell Sid". Who Sid was, I don't know, but now it is a private company it needs to make a profit, so it sells stuff, same as Sainsbury or Asda sell stuff to make a profit.

Not entirely accurate, I am afraid.

I worked for the Gas Board, in those dim and distant days. Even then, we carried "prospect cards", which we returned to the depot to be passed to the Sales Dept. We got a few bob per card, and I completed as many as possible. I considered it free money.
