Been to look at a house today, cos we're thinking of moving, and the consumer unit is located in the toilet. Its seems quite new (the cu that is) and there are no taps etc just a toilet.

Is this safe? Allowed?

Just seemed a bit strange to me.

I don't think it can be reached while doing your business mind.

Any ideas?

See it quite a lot in new builds and when a customers converted the space under the stairs as a downstairs loo the meter is usually in there too.

Been many times I've had to sit on the floor with the bowl level with my face.

I love my job

AFAIK it's legit but one of the sparks will tell you for sure in a minute.

There is no issue with a CU being located in a WC, regardless of wether there is a hand basin or not. As long as it is not located in the firing line of course

Thanks for the replies.

If theres no issue with it electrically and its convenient........ha ha, sorry!

I think it would have to be IP67 rated to go in the toilet...
