Fuse switch and upstairs sockets

Ah.

That sounds like a faulty trip/breaker.

Best get an electrician to check and replace.

that could be a problem, a fault thats enough to blow a fuse can sometimes blow an mcb internally, most if not all mcbs would reset with the main switch off, is it possible to take a pic of the trip switch or just post the details written on it
Dont worry to much about the terminoligy

Yes, if you can, send a pic. That way we can tell you how easy it is to replace the part.

Also would be worth knowing the make - some cheapo brands are prone to go wrong anyway.

I'm working on the dreaded iPad so not that simple. Hopefully what I've posted previous will help. I have sorted an electrician for next week but would be nice to have some idea so I can avoid unnecessary diagnostics when he's here. I really appreciate all your help.

BG. Easily obtainable I would think. May be worth mentioning the make and rating, and that you can't flick it on even when the power is off at the main switch when you call the electrician.
