Good evening,

I've got this roof to do in a few weeks, it's a gable so nothing to challenging, but....

The span is 4.4mtrs for the roof, the width of the building is 3.5 mtrs, the architect has designed so the joists run the shortest route, built into the block work of the extension then hung or built into existing house.

My concern are the rafters, no collars, no purlins, no struts, no joists to stop spread.

So shall I just go back to the Architect/Engineer for a solution?

You don't say whether it is a hip or lean to type roof but if it is a hip could you do a Dragon Brace ?......
or if it's a lean to construction the top wall plate will be resin bolted to the wall so birdsmouth the rafters over it, fix as normal and also use galv truss clips too if you want and that will transfer and tether the load to the building and treat the bottom wall plate similar and as it will have have restraint straps fitted as per Regs and you could add more at closer intervals.

Sorry this I'd the drawing

I've attached a drawing but resolved it in the meantime.
