Have had the above shower for around 5 yrs, and today it refuses to give any hot water. Flow reduces when Temp control turned to hot, but no heat at all. Tried all the usuals, Main Fuse OK, All wiring seems fine, and secure. The unit is getting power. Removed the Shower internal unit from the wall, and checked the Element for continuity, and this is fine. Not sure what else to do really. Am a bit miffed, as this is the second internal unit, first failed after about 18mnths, and gainsborugh kindly sent a replacement internal for £60. How long should these units last. Water not hard around where I live, but could the little boiler be scaled up. Was doing this intermittantly last week, and if switched on and off, and the heat selector moved from cold to hot to cold, all was well.

Any advice?

A tco is a thermal cutout that cuts power to the elements when shower
becomes to hot due to useally a flow issue.
No these units are not repairable and come as complete engines as they call them.

Basically they are a cr*p shower and most plumbers avoid them as a new/replacement shower.

Thanks for reply. Done some more investigation, and it seems the small white plunger is not dropping. Seem to have enough mains pressure, and have done nothing to alter this (not sure if I could), Manually pushed the plunger down, and water ran hot again. First time plunger stayed down, but after switching off and on again, plunger will now not stay down.

I take it nothing in this unit is serviceable..... suppose its not safe to jury rig the plunger to stay down

In the interests of easiness, will prob get a new engine, as the wiring and feed is setup for this shower, and not really got time to mess about with re-running pipe.

No nothing in this unit is serviceable or parts available except
a complete engine.

As for rigging the plunger then no as this is really a safety feature
to stop the shower getting to hot when either the water stops or poor flow etc.
