I have a galaxy g2 with a few PIRs and contacts in the house. I only use it to fully set when I am not in the house. However I would like to put a contact and PIR in the garage.

I am thinking it should
A. be active when I set the full alarm.
B. Be active when I set the alarm at night (I will start doing this)
C. Alert or chime at all times.

Having done some background reading I think all the above is possible, however, is there anything else I should be considering or a better way of doing this?

Due the harsh(er) conditions in out-buildings, you may want to use a dual-tec PIR (Microwave/PIR Combined). Dual tec's are very cheap these days and worth it for the reliability. If it's the main garage door that you are protecting, then a roller door contact would be the one to go for. The galaxy is a 1k/1k dual balanced zone, so either select sensors with the resistors internal, or you can add at install time.

If you enter the garage before coming into the house (as in parking the cars in there), then you may want to add an additional keypad in the garage too.

Thanks all. It all seems quite straight forward. I'll speak to you again when I find out it isn't.
