Looking to re-do my patio, roughly 50sqm worth. Currently have a small lean to which we want to remove, along with it's concrete base, and patio is just concrete slabs laid on top of clay. Drainage unsurprisingly is terrible.
Only access is through the house, but we have a large corner of the garden fenced off I can dump a fair bit of the clay I dig out from the patio in.
Plan is dig down 200mm and look at installing a larger warm roof conservatory using Durabase frame, and a steel frame patio system like the one from Ovaeda. We've been getting very expensive quotes for traditional patio and concrete pad. I sense mostly due to the access issues, no-one wants the job. I'm hoping not having to bring through several tonnes of hardcore, and not having to pour a large concrete base will help, and I can do the concrete pads myself and save some money there.
Does anyone have any experience using these systems?
Also, I'm worried about the house foundations and drainage if I dig down, what do I need to be careful of here and how can I make sure I'm not causing major problems?
Cheers!
