Make some kind of custom splashback that angles forward at the bottom to cover the gap?

That's the purpose of the post. Splashback angles won't look good plus it's made of vinyl not heat resistant; has to be metal not sure if I can use timber?Make some kind of custom splashback that angles forward at the bottom to cover the gap?

This is an old pic of the kitchen with the gas hob, I don't have a close up but can be guessed the hob was sitting on the worktop, but foolishly he cut the worktop part behind the hob; exactly where salt/pepper pots sit in the photo and that's why we have the gap now.
So if no obstruction, why don't you push it back? There is nothing behind cooker. I called him, he came he took it out but couldn't push it back and he left as it is, pathetic.
He cut plinth with multitool. I was shocked, he was lazy to get jigsaw from the van!

Hi
I sent a gas engineer to replace a gas cooker at a rental property but made a mess of it, there is gap between wall and cooker as in pics. What part can I put there?
Obviously not the full story initially then. This is an old pic of the kitchen with the gas hob, I don't have a close up but can be guessed the hob was sitting on the worktop, but foolishly he cut the worktop part behind the hob; exactly where salt/pepper pots sit in the photo and that's why we have the gap now.
Obviously not, but I thought making a ledge would have been obvious?Quadrant tiles? Hanging in the air?
I think cooker / worktop is tight fit, seems he didn't cut it straight, he even damaged worktop because wrong/worn blade and no tape. He should have left 2mm gap each side but it's like push fit!So if no obstruction, why don't you push it back?
So trim it back to fit .I think cooker / worktop is tight fit, seems he didn't cut it straight, he even damaged worktop because wrong/worn blade and no tape. He should have left 2mm gap each side but it's like push fit!
I never do DIY in tenanted properties, I need to hire someone and see what's best, I know either trim or put some angled metal at the back.So trim it back to fit .
