Hi. i have to put some kitchen units in, leaving a gap for a cooker. this will be a rental property, so dont know what cooker the tennant may bring. Any suggestions as to what size gap to leave between the units?

Most freestanding are 600mm , if you put in a 400mm cup'd next to the gap this will allow anything up to the larger 1000mm range units to be fitted with it's removal. You need a small gap either side of oven.

in the absense of specific MI's you need 20mm either side of a gas cooker, most will fit in a 600 space so 590 +40 should cover all but range cookers, there are considerations for the wall units as well, if a slot in cooker is fitted and wall units are higher than 450mm from worktop to underside of unit they can be plumb in line with gap left, if lower than 450 to underside they need to step back 50mm either side of plumb line, if high level grill cooker is fitted wall units need to be at least 150mm either side of grill
