Yes you can but it might be easier to use architrave instead of plaster, if you have upvc then there are plenty type of plastic moulding to match.

If you do want to use plaster on the inside then use plasterboard ready for plaster, on the outside you could plant another cill on top so it act as a weather drip.

ask at a plastics suppliers or upvc manufacturers for a knock-on piece. these are regularly fixed to the sides or tops of products to prevent the plaster from interfering with the hinges or trickle vents.

FOAM FILL THE GAP AT THE TOP AND WHEN IT IS SET CUT IT FLUSH THEN GET SOME 50MM UPVC TRIM AND SOME DOUBLE SIDED TAPE CUT THE TRIM TO LENGTH AND THEN RUN A STRIP OF TAPE KEEPING IT NEAR TO ONE EDGE PUT THIS UP AGAINST THE FRAME SO THE TAPE STICKS TO THE DOOR FRAME THIS CAN BE DONE ON BOTH SIDES .ONCE THIS IS DONE GET SOME SILICONE AND RUN THIS AROUND NEW TRIM SEALING ANY GAPS
