I live in a Victorian terraced house, made of sandstone, with original wooden sash windows.
The outside of the window frame is painted in gloss, which meets the stone outside of the house. This is now cracking in places and coming away in others, so I know it needs dealt with. I had asked on here earlier about what kind of filler to use as I knew there was a slight gap between the window frame and wall, however, upon removing the old section, there is a gap of about 1 inch (possibly more) between the wall and window frame. I tried filling it with external wood filler to allow me to paint it again, but it's just too big a gap.
What should I do? I'm wondering if I should get someone to come round to strip the whole lot, fill, and repaint, to save me messing it up, however this might be a bit of a waste if I can just fill in those gaps myself with something and then repaint.
Thoughts?
