How to fill external gap between stonework and frame?

We've had new timber framed windows installed in our terraced house and when I was out on the scaffolding this morning, about to embark on painting the external stone columns and lintels surrounding the windows, I noticed that there are lots of gaps between the stone work and the frames as shown in the photo. What would you good folk suggest might be the best thing to fill this gap with please, which will prevent future problems and not look awful? Thank you.
