'Wood' help if you told a little bit more about what kind of floor you're talking about: exisitng floorboards, parquet (herringbone) flooring, new T&G flooring?
Ok, gaps can be filled by using the sand-dust of second sanding mixed with wood filler (various brands available e.g. Bona, Blanchon etc).
First sanding (40 grit) will get rid of old finish layer, dirt, grease etc. Empty dust bag of sander (and when doing this yourself, sanding that is, use a professional sander, not your regular drum sander of any hire company - will result in marks) and sand the floor with grit 80 sand paper. Use the sand dust to mix with filler and plaster the whole floor.
Let it dry and use grit 120 to sand for third time (removing all excess filler). If you want to lacquer the floor, sand a fourth time with grit 150, but I understand you want to oil it. Use any brand HardWaxOil. Easy to apply and loverly result. NB: any sanding errors (marks etc) will show once the finish layer is applied, hence the price for professional sanding.

Hi, area to be covered approx 8 x 4m (we think its herringbone parquet).
u said mix filler with sand an plaster whole floor, do you mean just gaps or all overfloor.?
Is the wood fillers u mentioned a special resin as the quote wehad said?

Based on your quote of £ 1000.00 for 32 sq m (includes professional sanding, filling and applying new finish?) is roughly £ 31 per sq m, not bad (if done professional of course).
Material in most wood fillers are resin/resin based and mix of sanddust and filler should be plastered over the whole floor (fill larger, wider gaps first, but then plastering the whole floor in one go will be easier than just filling every gap)

Sanding drums normally come with an iron bar to hold the sanding paper in place. Especially with grit 40 this bar, when not installed flat to the drum, can cause sanding marks and ruin all your good efforts.
