After 25 years covered with bitumen backed tiles(Heuga)I had our Burmese teak parquet refurbished last summer. However, over the winter, gaps have opened up (at least 5mm in some places) mainly along the runs of the underfloor C/H pipework. I am reluctant to lift/repair at this stage in case it simply happens again !! I think the gaps are too wide and will look very unsightly if I just fill. Also the bitumen adhesive 'bond' has broken down in some places. Should I cut my losses and resort to a new floor?

5mm seems a lot, but if you do a search on this forum you will see that it is natural for wood flooring to shrink in the winter and expand in the summer.

Is pretty normal, specially around c.h. areas. Have some patience, place some ceramic water containers on the radiators, or in general try to raise the air humidity in the house
