Yes, I realised that those comments came from Wales but (a) given that he was responding to a comment about planning permission, I suspect that he was actually referring to permissions (be they planning and/or building control permissions) for the everything to do with the lean-to (primarily construction), and (b) as far as notifiability of the electrical work is concerned, as I said, if the lean-to building does not count as 'outside', and if the OP was only going to extend existing circuits into the lean-to, then I don't see that the work would be notifiable, even in Wales, would it?

For the light circuit you take a spur off one of the sockets via a fuse spur unit with 3A fuse in it

Ideally I want to run the cables, and then get a sparky in to connect them up to the CU/mains.

Given the questions you've been asking and the mistakes you've made so far, you really don't know enough to be doing the design part of this.

I strongly suggest you have your electrician just do everything.

Re-reading my post I understand how I may have introduced confusion - I intended to highlight to the OP that although PP was not required it may need support from building control (at least it did in my area).

The notification I mentioned for a washing machine is based on the requirement for drainage rather than electrics. The closest I can find is point (g) in the link below:

I want to make sure everything is done properly and have sent an email to building control to confirm the rules regarding the washing machine.

Hopefully it's something over nothing, but worth checking now rather than having any issues later on.
