The garage door in the place i recently moved into has been playing up and im trying to source a replacement item rather than replace the entire door.

The door is pretty old but in good condition so id like to replace the faulty item if possible rather than have to get a new door fitted.

Here are a couple of images of the part in question and what i think is the problem:

Ive searched all over the place and contacted a few garage door specialists quoting what appears to be the part number on the item but so far ive not managed to find either a direct or an alternative replacement.

As described in the pic above, there is a clip used to hold the canopy arm in place. The groove in which this clip seems to be slightly worn, hence the clip comes off every now and then when the door gets opened. This causes the canopy arm to come away from the mounting pin.
Ive tried fitting a new clip but this has not solved the issue

Does anyone on here have much experience with garage doors and know what parts i might be able to replace the faulty one with?

Thanks
Rob

Do you know the make of the door? That is usually the first place to start.

Its a hormann door but its about 20 years old and from what i can tell the part is discontinued so il looking for an alternative

I don't recognise the mechanism, but in the event you can't find parts for it, I'm sure it would be easier and cheaper to fit a new locking set to the door, than to buy a new door. Or you could just fit Enfield bolts at each side.

Ordinary Henderson and Garador mechanisms are childishly simple, though the ones I've seen don't have such a sophisticated latch as the one in your pic.
