Hello Everyone,

I need to know if a Garage fire door can open out of the Garage into the adjoining room, (in my case a utility room), or does it have to open into the Garage.

Also, If Blocking an old doorway from a garage to utility room can I Block with a stud wall and if so does the garage side of the wall need to be double boarded?

The wall in both these examples is a cavity wall with 100mm cavity.

Thanks in anticipation for your help.

a fire door can open into the garage.

1/2" (12.5mm) plasterboard and skim will afford you 30mins fire resistance. this will satisfy current reg's, so yes you can stud it. it may be prudent to use fire resistant boards though.

Thanks noseall fro your reply.

So a door can open in or out of the Garage, is that correct?

Thanks again.
