Hi,

I have a detached (18ft x 18ft)double prefab concrete garage that desperately needs re-roofing. I've had differing answers as to whether the current roof is asbestos containing or not, but in any case I have made enquiries on disposing of this safely and that is in hand.

Now, I've had a few people around to quote for the job of re-roofing it. My usual and trusted roofer had said he would install on giant sheet of corrugated roofing and for £700. Unfortunately, he clearly doesn't want the job as he's never turned up to do it and keeps making excuses to the point where I will no longer entertain him. I've also had a couple of concrete garage companies around. One said he would re-roof it using galvanised steel sheet at a cost of £700 or he would install an apex roof for £1000. He basically warned me off another flat roof and advised me that the galvanised steel sheeting would condensate in winter and drip all over everything. So another concrete garage guy came around this morning and quoted to re-roof it with galvannised steel @ £1100. He conversely told me an apex roof would be pointless because it wouldn't gain me anything.

Now I'm confused.... As I see it, and apex roof should be the better option. I'm not sure if that price is fair or not?

Any opinions greatly received!

THanks.
