Does anybody have any tips on getting a decent paint covering on a garage floor. I have used International before but finds it peels off under tyres when my bike has been left for long periods. Is this down to the method i used to apply it or just the nature of floor paints? I have seen cheaper versions of floor paints and if they are all going to peel eventually i will go for a cheapo one and re paint now and again. If money were no object the i would go for a specialist garage floor covering but as i want to keep costs down i think paint is the way to go. Any advice appreciated.

Whatver you use you must first clean the floor to remove any oil, grease, rubber, loose material, dirt, debris. Power washing is the minimum you should do, using a proprietary degreaser where needed.

The ultimate prep is to shot blast the floor, steam clean, or diamond grind it. Probably over the top for a domestic garage, but if a job's worth doing....

Then apply two coats of Ronadeck EWB [or for a higher spec. apply two coats of Ronadeck HB100], with a scattering of A/S Aggregate Fine Grade between coats to give you some slip resistance if wet or oily.

Material costs:

Ronadeck EWB, £1.58 per m2 per coat, 2 coats needed
Ronadeck HB100, £2.22 per m2 per coat, 2 coats needed
A/S Aggregate, £28.00 per 25kg, apply at ~ 0.1kg per m2
Prices excl. VAT and Delivery.
