Garage lighting Phase 2

Ok so i have with your help yesterday fitted one fluorescent light to my garage.

Now i would like to add another one.

Using this pic of the mock up i made yesterday to explain-

Do i simply use the spare terminals to wire the other light?

Also i had to loop the L&L1 to get it to work- do i need to do this in both units?

Yea you can take a feed from the second terminal into the next light, that's what they're there for

The idea of the L and L1 connections is so you can connect these to a switch.

I'm not sure how you plan to switch these on and off?

They are on a plug to a RCD socket which i just plug in and out.

Link your second light from the same terminals in your first light(please make sure you sleeve the earth core with green/yellow) and hopefully you have used flex cable rather the twin and earth.

Erm...

You appear to have twin and earth connected into a BS1363 plug. This isn't what it's meant for! Stranded flex would have been a far better choice and won't be as likely to work-harden and break over time.

That 13a fuse needs to be replaced with a 3a and if you insist on keeping the solid core cable your earth wire should be sleeved in green/yellow

If you're going to do the job then do it properly!

I have used flex in the Garage i just used a mock up to show what i had done as i had no light in the garage to take a good pic-

What i am questioning is as it is not switched when i had one unit i had to loop the L & L1 don i still need to do this and in both units??

yes you do still need to do it on both

In the previous light, it were to make an emergency light switch on without a permanant live.
