I'm extending my garage to within about 60cm of the boundary fence, the garage will be no bigger than the 30 square metres allowed before the building control people get interested, but I remember reading somewhere that if it's within a metre of a boundary that it must be built "substantially of non-combustible materials" to prevent the spread of fire.

Am I allowed to install a window on the side of my garage, within 1 metre of the boundary or would it be a fire risk?

Thanks for the link,I've had a look at the pdf but unfortunately I'm none the wiser about whether I should fit a window or not,or whether any of those rules apply to this type of structure.
