Garden gate- post size

Hi,
i am about to put up a 2.4m bay of 6ft closeboard fencing, followed by a 3'x6' wooden gate. does anyone know if 4"x4" 2.7m wooden fence post is strong enough to support the gate from which it will hang? i am planning on fixing the gate in between 2 wooden posts, each set in concrete. thanks
