hi.

I'm after putting some outside lights up. max 7 lights max 700w

they will run along the edge fence of the garden.

some ideas please.

110v ? for safety on a rcd socket from the garage

or low voltage...but will it provide the lighting power and what about fittings/bulbs availability/cost

Or just do it in 220v and rcd ?

then the wiring...1.5mm or 1.0mm and it would have to be trunking ?

any constructive suggestions ?

What are these lights for? This will determine what sort of lighting technology you will use.

700 watts of fluorescent lighting is a LOT of lumens, whereas 700 watts of halogen is somewhat less. ;)

ah...i'm thinking along the lines of 7 bulk head type fittings with 7 standard 100w bulbs in them (or poss even 60W) as its mainly for decorative/ambience

230 volt and rcd would be fine, using extra low voltage over long runs you could get problems with volt drop. You might want to consider using energy saving lamps in the bulkheads as they are cheaper to run. The correct type of cable and fittings need to be used for outdoor circuits, this work is notifiable to your LABC.
