Garden Tap Repair Without Welding?

Hi Everyone!

I am a newbie to this site so here goes!

I have a garden Tap which is fixed outside onto the external wall of my conservatory. My late Dad, God bless him, first put it there way back in the mid eighties. The tap is fed by a longish length of copper pipe (about half an inch in diameter) which unfortunately sprang two leaks and at the moment, is useable after me doing a couple of repairs on it, but it will have to be repaired properly before next winter.

I have a pipe cutter which I have already used, but I am wondering how I'm going to replace the section of pipe and reattach it to the existing copper pipe without using any welding or soldering? I would prefer to use plastic pipe if possible too.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

if you have room, you can use compression fittings

you need two spanners/chsannel locks to fit them.
It is possible to get junctions to fit between types.
You can also get a version that is push fit

I wouldn't repair the pipe if the holes are near each other - just add a new pipe
maybe insulate the pipe.
consider a valve indoors to cut off the water over winter

Cut the pipe at the burst, then fit Burst Pipe Connectors, ( Slip Couplings) Slide over the original pipe. tighten with two spanners .
