gas fire will not ignite when control knob turned. a spark is evident when knob turned. it lights when you use a lighter and stays lit. cleaned around area of spark, no improvement. any advice :?:

it sounds like the fire is fitted with an oxysafe pilot assembly and this is a fault that can appear when the fire needs service just under the oxypilot there is a smalll filter that gets fluffed up and does not let enough gas out to be lit with the spark device even though you can light it with a match get it seviced remove the burner and get it done properly it could save your life one day use a corgi eng to have it done

ok gasmick, good points. its my mums fire so need to use a corgi guy for her safety, needed to have some idea of what maybe wrong, any recommendations of a reasonably priced fitter in the prescot, knowsley area who will assist.

thanks
