I have a flueless gas fire which is a focal point reflection ... when you ignite it and the pilot light comes on then hold in for 10/20 seconds then you turn the knob slowly and the fire ignites but what is happening now is that the pilot light comes on and when you turn to light the fire the main burner wont light and the pilot light goes out..........any advice to try and rectify I would be grateful

Unfortunately, many like myself, will only advise to have the thing taken out asap, as flueless fires are a death waiting to happen.

I know this is not very helpful to you, but most RGI's refuse to fit them or work on them :(

I have had it for about 2 years with no problems..when the gas engineer fitted it I had to get a air vent fitted to comply with regs...if they are that bad why ars they still on sale

Got me thinking now !!!! missus is always saying its ugly anyhow and rather than pay for repair might as well put the money for a new one......any recommendations on what is the most efficient?

Extra jumpers the most efficient by far!
For all fires seek advice from a local fire specialist. There are SO many different possibilities that depend on specific site conditions that a survey is needed to be able to give decent advice.
Apart from the jumper that is.

I have just put on a few extra jumpers....serious note though I have been looking at similar topics on these fires and it appears there is a serious problem with them

Focalsh*te Fires AAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH! put together by cheap foreign labour in a small warehouse in Christchurch Dorset

look on several websites to find the truth about these fires.
just look up the story about the death in south wales and how Focalsh*te wormed there way out of any blame whilst the installer went to prison

as a gas engineer i will not fit, repair or service these death traps or any other fire manufactured by these clowns

If my memory serves me right, was it a Focal Point flueless fire that was illegally installed and faulty that killed the young girl in Cwmbran, South Wales.

He never checked the burner pressure or gas rated it.

To OP your fire requires a service there is muck in the pilot

i remmeber that apperently the installation was done tidy, but the guy went down because he was a plumber, and wasn't corgi. if he was to of been corgi he would of got away with it. leave them where they are in the boxes.

not quite! as said above the company was able to worm its way out of responsibility, the RGI went to prison despite it being a manufacture fault.
it was fitted legally if i recall but not correctly checked. hence the sentence handed out.
