Good afternoon,

I tried to light the gas fire in my living room at the weekend but it was completely dead - no clicking from the ignition and I could not hear any gas? I can usually hear the gas being released into the system when I turn the ignition knob.

Is this likely to be an ignition problem or could there be more to it? As far as I am aware, the fire is 10-15 yrs old. It is a Valor but I don't have the model name to hand.

Thanks in advance,
Colin

if the fire is that age it will have a piezzo ignition as opposed to electric, even when faulty you should still hear gas when you push in and turn the control knob, with a faulty ignition you should still be able to push and turn the control knob and light the fire by using a lit taper at the base of the radiants, unusual not to hear gas or click of ignition, check control knob is actually turning the rod, it may be slipping round
