hi all, can someone tell me what the parts under the fake coals, that look like the casleations on top of a castle wall are called ? they look as though they spread the gas and flame around the coals and appear to be made of the same material as the coals. also where can I buy them from, do they have to come from the manufacturer, because they are specific to the fire or can I buy them and replacement coals somewhere like ebay ? thanks, Ian.

Coal beds are specific to each fire model, what fire do you have and someone maybe able to point you in right direction, And there not usually cheap.

thanks namsag. its a Slimline standard NG made by crosslee plc. with the coals being specific to the fireplace, do they have to be put back in exactly the same place after having the fire cleaned ? I ask because it started to carbon up really badly after having it cleaned and now all the coals and firebed are crumbling. although it is getting a lot of carbon, we have a carbon monoxide detector just above it and its never gone off yet. thanks again anyone answering. Ian.

If the fire is showing signs of Carbon, you will need a RGI to carry out various tests - including gas pressures, chimney flow etc. Beware the dangers of CO poisoning.
Is your fire a Slimline Turbo Standard ( Harmony ) If so, parts are as follows :
Simulated coal front - GC No. E61-977
Shelf, coal support - GC No. E61-978
Coals - GC No. E61-979

Crosslee phone number 01422 200660
