Evening all.

My current gas job is being replaced along with worktops etc. I know I need to get a gas safe person in (£75 each way!)to connect the new one in.

This seems crazy to pay just for undoing and doing back up a nut, but keep reading it’s not worth the risk so have decided to book one in for connecting the job once the worktop is fitted.

This is my current job and fitting:

It has an isolating tap next to the copper pipe which is working.

Can I at least disconnect the existing one myself? What would the gas safe fella do? Surly he wouldn’t bother capping it off for 24hours?

I am happy to turn the mains gas to the property off for 24 hours to be doubly safe if needed.

Thanks

Ah OK.

I will reword. Most images seem to show more permanent methods of fitting end cap compression fittings that appear to be female.

Do gas fitters ever simply fit the linked above male end cap into the existing gas hob supply collar?

Just looking to understand and inform myself before getting a pro in and pricing up the job.
