My meter makes a strange noise when under demand, it sounds like a kind of popping noise.

Just wondering if this is normal, never noticed it in previous houses, then again I dont really sit and listen to the meter.

Pipe has been upgraded in size when the boiler was changed, meter must be getting onto 25/30 years old judging by the old British Gas information booklets that were attached to the meter.

They now change meters every 10 years or less in case they are out of calibration and undercharging for the gas you use.

Telephone the supplier and they will come and change it.

Some of the older ones are rather noisy.

The noise is wear and tear on the old bellows type meter and when they get like that they don`t register the amount of gas passing through them properly and its in the customers favour
So keep it , it may not be a great deal out but at least its something.
In normal operation a meter must have an accuracy of + or - 2 percent.
