Gas pipe in middle of pad foundation

Hi

Just digging out for a pad foundation and have uncovered what looks like a gas pipe right in the middle
Looking at the direction to where it is running it looks like it is going in the direction of an old gas main that is capped off internally in the house

Is this likely to cause any issues?

Or will it need investigation by Gas Board/ or redesign of the pad foundation?

Yes, it needs moving or removing. If it's capped at the other end but it's presumably still pressurised so is very much live. But it sounds like you're largely guessing anyway.

Contact your local gas network provider. Have a wad of money ready.

Would it help to dig a hole on the boundary to expose the pipe?
Just asking if it would save money and if it’s safe?

Or would the gas Co cut it of at the road? Assuming that you know you’s never use gas in future?
Would future householders want gas?
My pipe was lined with plastic a couple of years ago.
All gas in the house is in the slab.

This one is running across the side of the house from the direction of next door.

There is a new gas supply at the front

They should have a look, possibly for free. They'll have a complete network map, they should be able to give you a map showing what's where, no need to guess or dig holes.

Hopefully removal won't be expensive, unless it's feeding neighbours in which case you'll need a new route.

Impossible to say just by looking at it if it's redundant, some were not disconnected, some had plastic insertions put through. Give your Gas Transporter a call and ask for them to come and identify if it's Live and if not, cut it off at a suitable point. I've been there when the Gas Man said 'It's dead, you can pull it', only for us to find the steel service had a Plastic insertion through it.....

The main trunk lines, big bore stuff - yes. Smaller lines - not so. You always have to get the shovel out with small domestic.

If it’s capped off ( redundant) then sleeve it.

All gas pipes end up going through footings (until they don’t), when we build over them.

I know the reg’s. What I’m saying is gas pipes have to pass through footings etc until they are relocated. How did you think we did it whilst still keeping the customer with a gas supply?
